Highlights of Tamilnadu and Kerala (Temples and Backwaters)

Day 1

After your arrival at Chennai International Airport, you will be transferred to The Hotel Metropolitan Accord for overnight stay.  
Afternoon there will be a half day city sight orientation Tour of Chennai, visiting Fort.   St.   George, St.   Mary’s Church, George Town, Santhome Cathedral and Kapaleeshwara Temple.  

Day 2

0800 Hrs you check out and proceed to the temple city Kanchipuram (75 Kms) and visit the vibrant temples (Kailasanatha and Ekambareswara).  Later you can find time to visit a local silk manufacturing unit where traditional silk saree are woven. 

There are also other products other than saree to buy from these manufactories.

Afternoon, proceed to Mahabalipuram (60 Kms.) and visit the famous World Heritage Monuments (Arjuna’s Penance, Five Rathas and shore temple. Overnight Check-in at the Hotel GRT Temple Bay

Day 3

1230 Hrs, proceed to Pondicherry visit the Aurobindo Ashram. Pondicherry was a French Colony during the British Rule in India. It is a fascinating and a modern City with the glimpses of French culture. You have option to do some shopping in the famous Nehru Street. Overnight Check-in at the Hotel Anandha Inn.

Day 4

0800 Hrs, Proceed to Chidambaram to visit the Nataraja Temple and participate in the ceremonies conducted there everyday. Afternoon drive to Swami Malai to visit the Bronze Sculpture making factory and learn about the traditional style of making the “Lost Wax Model” bronze Icons which are still used in the temple for worship. We visit the Studio of the famous sculptor Rajan from Swami Malai. Later drive to Tanjore and night stay at Hotel Parisutham.

Day 5

0800 Hrs, visit the Big Temple built by the King Raja Rajacholan in the 10th Century. Later drive to Karaikudi the city belongs to the powerful business community (Chettiars) of India. We stop at the traditional house turned Hotel for an exclusive Lunch.

After Lunch we drive further to The City of Festivals, Madurai for overnight stay at Hotel Sangam.

Day 6

Morning we visit the magnificent Temple of Madurai and also the Palace. Later in the afternoon you have time to do some shopping as Madurai has plenty of options with hosts of Kashmiri Emporiums and Textile Shops. Overnight stay at Hotel Sangam.

Day 7

0900 Hrs, we depart to Thekkady (Periyar Wildlife Park) in Kerala. In the afternoon there will be a Boat cruise in the man made lake, which supports the wildlife specially Elephants and Antelopes. Though the park also has the Big Cats (Tigers and Leopards) they are hard to be sighted. In the early afternoon we can also take a hike in the Spice gardens of Kerala. Cardamom and Pepper are the important spices that are cultivated in the Hills of Kerala. Overnight stay will be booked in Cardamom County.

Day 8

0900 Hrs, drive into the hilly terrain of Kerala to reach the famous backwater area at Kumarakom. On arrival we check- in at the famous Lake side Resort and rest of the day free for leisure activities (swimming and Ayurvedic massages)

Day 9

1000 Hrs we take small Motor Boats to explore the life on the banks of the narrow canals around Kumarakom.  Afternoon free for own activities and overnight stay at the Lake side Resort.

Day 10

1000 Hrs, we drive to reach the Old Port city of Cochin and in the city orientation trip we visit the Old Paradeshi Synagogue, Dutch Palace and the Jew Town.

This city is also famous for many Antique shops, which sells mostly the New Items made to look antique. Overnight stay at the Hotel Casino.

Day 11

You will be transferred to the International Airport in Cochin to Connect you flight back Home.
